Chest pain and its relationship to angina.

الام الصدر

What does chest pain have to do with angina?
When the blood flow to the heart decreases, that causes chest pain, and that pain is a sign that you are suffering from angina.

What are the types of angina?
1- Stable angina.
2- Unstable angina.
3- Prinzmetal's angina

Stable angina:
1- The patient develops stable angina in the event of an effort that makes the heart work more strongly than usual such as climbing the stairs and exercising, stress, fatty meals, cold climate, and smoking; this causes narrowing of the arteries and therefore lack of proper blood flow to the heart which leads to angina.
2- Stable angina can be expected.
3- Chest pain lasts for a short time (about 5 minutes or less).
4- It can be controlled using the right medicine and by stopping the action that triggered it in the first place.

Unstable angina:
1- Unstable angina can happen during rest, often due to a blood clot, plaques rupture, which stop the blood flow to the heart suddenly.
2- Unstable angina cannot be expected to occur.
3- This type is more dangerous than stable angina because chest pain lasts longer (about 30 minutes or more) and the symptoms may not disappear using angina medication or even with rest, which may be an indicator of a heart attack.

Prinzmetal's angina :
1- Prinzmetal's angina occurs as a result of a spasm in the arteries of the heart, which temporarily reduces blood flow to the heart.
2- It could also happen due to smoking, psychological stress, and medications that narrow blood vessels, such as some migraine medications, as well as cocaine consumption.
3. This type of angina is rare.
4- The person can develop it during rest.
5- They are often severe but can be controlled using angina medication.
